Curing A Hangover

Friday nights are usually fun but can also be very deadly.  If you’re in the same condition as me this morning, chances are you could go for a couple tracks to make you feel better.  Luckily, I have just the cure.

Monoliths is one hell of a great instrumental.  It has a very sound ambient vibe to it.  Clear, clean, and constant, Maserati surely has tweaked out something brilliant.  Every aspect of this track grabs you, sucks you, and tosses you around before spitting you out.  The group hails from Athens, Georgia and will be breaching the northern border in the next month.  Watch out for shows in Montreal (Oct 01.09- @ La Tulipe), Toronto (Oct 02.09- @ Lee’s Palace), and Vancouver (Oct 08.09 – @ Biltmore Cabaret).

Maserati – Monoliths

I stumbled across Audraglint entitled, Frost the other day.  While it strays a bit from the usual upbeat party bangers we try to provide on here, I liked it so much I had to post it.  The epic soft synth carry-away found within is spectacular.  Very dreamy, ambient, and very soft.  The crew releases their own stuff on their own label Audraglint Recordings.  Find more on them via their website, but more importantly, check out this track.

Audraglint – Frost

Well I guess we’ve established the musical theme of this post by now itchin’ toward the melodics of excellent music.  Classixx recently undertook a project remixing Yacht‘s Psychic City that turned out extremely well.  I used to sit on the fence with Classixx.  With their developed style and sound I found them inconsistent about six months ago.  Now after some spectacular couple of months (you can find a numerous amount of their tracks on here) I’m a big fan.  They seemed to have tuned and perfected themselves to where they want to be.

I saved arguably my favourite and best for last.  Something rare as some people tend to hit up the first couple tracks and move on.  However, this should be a rare treat for those who followed through with every track.  Michael Cassette‘s Moonlight Runner is a jam packed synth melody that is absolutely groovin.  I like how he conquers the fine line of producing dance beats all while keeping the mood very light and mellow.  Very interesting stuff. I dig it.

Alas hopefully this helps you out, and hey if you’re not hungover I’m sure you’ll still enjoy them.

Alright fine… one dance banger to keep everyone happy.

Flirtphonic tossed out a new track, Bubble Burst, that seemed to catch a lot of attention lately- as it should.  The track has a unique flavour of dips and heavy electronic breakdowns to keep you bobbin’

How to Keep Cool and Dance: Surviving the Heat Wave

Well sports fans, its been a pretty crazy week up here in Ottawa – hot and humid as hell. I’m sure some people appreciate the spicy weather and I do as well, but the humidity makes it super sticky – whackness.

So to help all those in the nations capital (and anywhere else its hot out) to chill the fuck out and get used to the weather a little quicker. I’m going to do something I have never done before on this blog, back to back posts – the very next day! Fuck I’m stoked…

To start, a remix by DJ DLG, who I believe was born and raised in the US, yet his myspace says Togo! Craziness? Maybe, but who knows? In any case, he throws down a super fresh remix to Duck Sauce‘s (A-Trak + Armand Van Helden) new single, Anyway. Its really hype and has a very classic house feel with some epic build ups, sweeping synth fade outs and drops… Mmm, mmm, mmm.

Duck Sauce – Anyway (DJ DLG Bigroom Disco Mix)

Next up, one of 317’s favourite Britons  – GRUM, hailing from Leeds, is at it again. This time around he synths out Adam Freeland‘s Borderline and let me just say, the results are outstanding. A straight UK connection that we should be thankful for, because I personlly love this track and GRUM is quickly becoming one of my favourite current artists. Word is bond.

Freeland – Borderline (GRUM Remix)

Moving right along, Classixx from LA, got together with Jeppe from Korsbæk, Denmark, and laid down a banger. To be totally honest, at first the vocals kinda seemed a bit much and I wasn’t in love.

But, within maybe three listens this track had me, the synth is fucking nuts when the chorus hits and the lyrics, although I can’t understand Danish at all, suit the song quite well.  The synth is stuttered and echoed perfectly, with the funky base to back it all up, its really a tight and sharp sounding track.

Classixx feat. Jeppe – I’ll Get You

Last up and if you thought track #3 was a bit unusual for my completely unrefined taste, than you might shit your pants when you hear #4. No I’m kidding, you know I brought the goods, come on… So yeah, I’ve got a new Australian connection track, Calling In Sick, from New South Wales, has remixed  Sydney based Grafton Primary‘s All-Stars. And that would make this my aggressive track of the last two weeks, hope you dig.

Peace out and let us know what you think of the tracks in the comments section, please… You know we love you!

Three Sure Bangers

Someone was nice enough to point a finger over to Holy Ghost!‘s mix of Goblin City.  At nine minutes in length, it has some versatility.  It’s very playful and melodic.  The interlude grabs you within the first minute and then you’re locked in from there.  These guys from NY surely are mixing masterminds.

Panthers – Goblin City (Holy Ghost! Disco Dub)

This next remix is lethal.  The original to MSTRKRFT‘s pairing with Legend in my opinion was too slow and strayed away from the traditional party bangers that I became infatuated over MSTRKRFT with.  The Jump Jump Dance Dance Remix eliminates this problem.  Tossing in a heavier bassline and some catchier rifts, this song is officially ready for the hardwood.  A little dose of that synth nearing 3 mins in just ties it all together.  I know you’ll like this.

Jump Jump Dance Dance are Etc Etc’s latest signing since PNAU and Lost Valentinos.   The Californian based duo consists of LA DJ and Vocalist Chris Carter and Simon Lewick.  Keep an eye out for these guys in the future.  This is only the beginning.

MSTRKRFT feat. John Legend – Heartbreaker (Jump Jump Dance Dance Remix)

The last hit comes from the duo in Classixx and has been patiently waiting in my library for about two week now to be tossed up here.  I watched it grow as various blogs covered it more last week.  Still relatively unheard, it’s too good to not take the extra time out and showcase it on 317.  The new take on Major Lazer‘s Cash Flow is mellowed out and absolutely terrific.  Great work threading in some light synth to carry you away with.

The rest of Phoenix‘s remixes to Lisztomania, the new single off the soon to released new album,  have all recently dropped the past few days.  They contend with the previously posted Classixx remix we had shared earlier but was later rejected by blogger.  Thanks to WordPress- and a group of talented artists, we have a bunch of great new renditions to share with you.  Listen, judge, and critique.  Comment the winner.  Let the games begin!

The New Music: February, wk 6

This week we’re lucky to have two disgustingly good songs to unleash. Up first is the CCENTURIESS mix to “You’re In My Heart” by Lioness. It’s out of this world. It starts off with a spacey synth vibe that increasingly begins to pickup and then all of a sudden drops the nastiest cross-breed of what I can only describe as a jazz horn with some sick flare. The track blows up reviving itself with striking house vocals provided by Vanessa Fischer. I jumped on it as soon as I heard it. The only question I have is what happened to my sick jazz horn? where’d you go?

Lioness – You’re In My Heart (CCENTURIESS Remix)

This Classixx mix just spells epic within twenty seconds of listening to it. It’s soft synth throws me back to the same nostalgic feeling 1979 gives to me by the Smashing Pumpkins. This song immediately grabs you. Whether out cruisin’ the streets, or watching the minutes tick past midnight, Classixx hits it right on the spot.
